About

Built from the work,
not from the hype.

The Koru Project was founded by Barry Harris II to help organizations put AI to work honestly—starting with the university operations he knows from the inside.

Barry Harris II, founder

Barry has spent his career in higher-education operations and enterprise systems, with deep hands-on experience in PeopleSoft and university Financial Aid. He has seen what happens when new technology arrives without a clear understanding of the work—and what becomes possible when it is fitted to the people who do it.

Koru (the unfurling fern frond) stands for new growth that keeps its shape. That is the aim of every engagement: AI that helps your team grow without losing the knowledge, controls and care that make the work trustworthy.

How Koru operates

An agent-first company, with a person in charge.

Koru is built to deliver from day one. Supervised AI agents handle drafting, research, inbox triage and site upkeep, so Barry’s time goes to client work. Every message, post or change that reaches a client or the public is approved by a person first.

Content & research

Drafts the writing

Agents turn podcast episodes and field notes into blog posts and social drafts, and track regulatory and vendor change.

Inbox & follow-up

Keeps conversations moving

Agents sort the inbox, summarize what came in and draft replies. Nothing is sent until a person approves it.

Website & operations

Keeps the lights on

Agents propose site updates as reviewable changes and prepare a daily brief: new conversations, open tasks, spend.

Principles

Three words. No fine print.

01

Honesty

If automation is not the right answer, we will say so. Every recommendation includes the limits, risks and evidence behind it.

02

Quality

A demo is not a production system. We test the work, document the decisions, and design for the exception—not only the happy path.

03

Friendship

We work beside your people, share what we know, and leave the team more capable. Good technology should feel like support, not displacement.

Your first Koru project

Let’s talk about your work.

Tell us about one workflow, including the messy parts. We will tell you honestly where AI fits, where it doesn’t, and what a first pilot would look like.
